How much Montecucco wine is exported?

Six bottles out of ten leave Italy. That is a high share for a small appellation: about 800,000 bottles a year, made by the 68 member wineries of the Consorzio.

How did 2025 end?

With more wine bottled than the year before. Basile spoke of an optimistic start to the year, at a time he described as difficult for the sector, partly because of the public debate around wine. The trend was confirmed in September: bottlings grew by 11% over the past year (see the 2026 Montecucco harvest).

What message does the Consorzio promote?

Wine as part of culture and history, to be enjoyed mindfully and with pleasure: this is the message the Consorzio wants to take to Italy and abroad.

What is the Consorzio Tutela Vini Montecucco?

The Consorzio was founded in 2000, two years after Montecucco DOC was recognised (1998), and supported the creation of Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG in 2011. In 2026 it turns 26. 90% of production is organic. The area lies between Mount Amiata and the Ombrone river, in the province of Grosseto.
